The weather office on Thursday issued a heavy rainfall warning over interior and coastal Karnataka for the next 48 hours, even as the authorities were striving hard to restore normal life in Bangalore and other parts of the state disrupted by incessant rains in the past few days.
In the city, though people had some respite on Wednesday rom the non-stop rainfall, most places, including JP Nagar, Bommanahalli and Puttenahalli, were still waterlogged.
People in these areas were facing problems of drinking water, limited food supply and power cuts. The threat of outbreak of epidemics like gastroenteritis was also looming large.
The relief work, which was affected due to incessant rain, had gained momentum only on Wednesday. But it was hit once again as the city started receiving showers since early Thursday.
While air traffic from the city was not affected, the South Western Railway has cancelled most of the trains to Chennai, including the Shatabdi, Lal Bagh and Brindavan Expresses.
All flights coming into Chennai had also been diverted to Bangalore.
Traffic was yet to be restored on the Bangalore-Hosur road, which was still flooded. The traffic police have requested people not to take out their vehicles, as most of the places in the city were still waterlogged.
Meanwhile, the body of a woman, who was washed away on October 22, was recovered from a tank at Tavarakere in Bangalore Rural on Thursday.
