Exit polls at the end of second phase of polling in Bihar assembly elections on Wednesday projected a fractured verdict with a slight edge for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance against the United Progressive Alliance in the 243-member House.
Zee News's exit poll gave 110 seats to the Bharatiya Janata Party-Janata Dal-United combine, 83 to the Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal alliance and 20 to Lok Janshakti Party besides a sizeable 30 to others contestants.
The exit poll on Star News predicted 115 seats for the NDA parties and 85 for the UPA partners. LJP, headed by Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, was unlikely to repeat its show of 29 seats and end up with 15.
Others contestants are expected to get 28 seats as per the survey.
At the end of the first phase of polling on October 18, the survey on Zee News had placed the RJD-led combine ahead of NDA while a Star News survey put the NDA alliance in the lead -- but with neither getting absolute majority.
Zee News exit polls had then forecast 100 seats for RJD-led alliance, while the NDA combine was projected to get 93 seats.
The LJP, which had held the key in the previous House, was then projected by the channel to secure 18 seats at the end of the first phase of polling and on Wednesday it was predicted to get 20 seats, still nine less than last time.
In the February polls, RJD secured 75 seats. The JD-U with 55 and BJP with 37 put up a combined strength of 92.
In the Star TV poll, the NDA combine was projected to get 114 seats against RJD-led alliance's 87 after the end of the first phase of polls. The rest two phases of poll will be held in November.
