A Finnish woman tourist who was arrested for walking naked on a street in Pushkar has been released on bail and asked not to leave the pilgrim town till proceedings in the case were over.
Erica, the Finnish woman who was arrested on Saturday for walking nude after a bath in the holy Pushkar lake, was charged with section 416 of Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act and section 294 of Indian Penal Code for exhibiting obscenity in a public place.
She was let out on bail on Monday after she furnished a personal bond of Rs 10,000 and was asked not to leave the town till the case proceedings were over.
Police have also asked authorities of the hotel where she is put up, to ensure that she does not check out of the hotel.
Following public outcry after the incident, Erica had expressed regret, but said the act for her was a spiritual ceremony.
However, some witnesses said Erica suffered from mental illness and was intoxicated when the incident took place.
