Local police have moved the Jamui district court for warrants of arrest against Union Minister Jaiprakash Narain Yadav and four others, including a police officer, for allegedly facilitating 'illegal escape' of Yadav's brother and Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate, Vijay Prakash.

"Yes, we have approached the court of chief judicial magistrate here seeking issue of warrants of arrest against all the accused in the case," Superintendent of Police, Jamui, Arvind Kumar told PTI on Monday.

"I have already supervised the case and the investigation continues in full swing after the institution of First Information Report and prayer for warrants of arrest against the accused," Kumar said, setting at rest the speculations over the police allegedly soft-pedalling the case.

An FIR was registered Saturday against Jaiprakash and four others, including a police officer, for entering into criminal conspiracy for causing 'illegal escape' of his brother.

Besides Yadav, his brother Vijay Prakash, suspended officer in-charge Mukteshwar Prasad, independent candidate Ashok Ram and RJD worker Batoli Yadav were named accused in the FIR in the case registered by police at Khaira police station in Jamui district.

The case was registered under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code, against both Yadav and the suspended officer-in-charge of Khaira police station, Mukteshwar Prasad, for causing 'escape' of Vijay Prakash, arrested under non-bailable sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms act.

Jaiprakash Narain Yadav is in the eye of a storm after he secured release of his brother and RJD candidate from Khair police station on October 18.

The BJP has demanded immediate sacking of Jaiprakash from Union Cabinet and his immediate arrest after registration of an FIR against him and Janata Dal (United) sought Yadav's externment from the Jamui district limits, in view of the elections in Suryagarha, one of the assembly constituencies in the district.

Vijay Prakash was arrested with a rifle, ammunition, Rs 6.68 lakh in cash and 50 bottles of liquor during the polling on October 18.
