Army troops operating in Jammu and Kashmir donated a day's ration, which amounts to 203 tonnes of food supplies, for distribution among the earthquake affected people of the state on Wednesday, a defence release said in Srinagar.
General Officer Commanding-in-chief Northern Command Lieutenant General Deepak Kapoor approved the release of the aid for the earthquake victims, the release said. "The initial reaction to provide assistance to the quake-hit people was spontaneous and came from the grassroots levels of armed forces," he added.
