In the wake of the recent political killings, including that of state education minister Ghulam Nabi Lone, in Jammu and Kashmir, Centre is rushing Home Secretary V K Duggal to Srinagar on Wednesday to review the security arrangement in the state which is limping back to normal after the October 8 killer quake.

The decision was taken at an unscheduled meeting called by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil attended by Duggal, Director of Intelligence Bureau E S L Narasimhan and senior officials of the ministry. Duggal told reporters after the meeting that he would review the security situation in the state with police and other senior officials in Srinagar on Wednesday. "This is an unpardonable act and will be dealt with firmly by the security agencies in Srinagar," Duggal said.

The home secretary said his foremost duty was to review the relief supplies to the quake-hit Uri and Tangdhar but he would also take stock of the security scenario in the state. Strongly deploring the act, he said it was ironic that when the entire state and nation was concentrating on building infrastructure for the quake-ravaged people, the militants were indulging in such dastardly acts.
