The United States will provide more helicopters to Pakistan for conducting relief activities in quake-hit areas, Islamabad's Ambassador to the US, retired General Jehangir Karamat said.

"We have been told that the US is moving additional helicopters to Bagram (Afghanistan) where they would be assembled and moved to Pakistan," he told a private TV channel in an interview telecast on Tuesday.

'So we are expecting that we would soon have 24 such helicopters,' he said.

Karamat said there has been massive response from Pakistani Americans.

Till Sunday, $25 million had been sent to Pakistan from the US in the president's relief fund.

He said the contribution of the Pakistani-American community to NGOs operating in Pakistan is apart from the amount that has been given into President's relief fund.

Besides, Karamat said teams of doctors and consignments of medicines are being flown form the US to Pakistan. He said the Pakistan International Airlines warehouse in New York is now full and more relief goods are coming with every passing moment, adding there was an enormous response.
