In a bid to nab four persons who had opened fire at a trader and looted Rs 4 lakh, police have offered to reward a gun to anyone providing information about the culprits.

"We will gift a gun and issue its licence as reward to anyone providing information to facilitate the arrest of the four attackers," Superintendent of Police Ravi Gupta told reporters in morena.

The assailants had barged into shop of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh district chief Ramprakash Saraf and fired from country-made pistols, critically injuring one Ramveer Yadav on October 10.

Yadav, a dealer of iron rods, was striking a deal with Saraf's son Rakesh when the incident took place, police said, adding that the four accused fled on a motorcycle with Rs 4 lakh.

Police believe that offering gun licence as reward for information on the accused will yield desired results in the area.

Possessing a gun has been a matter of prestige in the Chambal belt as the farmers are known to spend a large portion of their income on purchasing weapons, sources said.
