Two persons were killed in an explosion at the Hyderabad city police task force office on Wednesday night.
Police said the blast occurred around 7.30 PM.
A home guard, Satyanarayana, was killed in the explosion that rocked the task force office and damaged the building.
The other victim was yet to be identified.
A constable, Venkat Rao, who was seriously injured, was shifted to the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences in the city.
The task force office had two constables and a home guard on duty at the time of the incident.
Since other police personnel were on Dussehra holiday, a major tragedy was averted.
Director General of Police Swaranjit Sen and Additional City Police Commissioner Tejdeep Kaur rushed to the spot.
"I cannot comment at present," the DGP said, responding to questions from the media.
"We will have to wait till forensic examination is over to know what type of blast it is, what type of explosive was used and in what quantity," he added.
