Should minor girls be allowed to marry?

The Delhi [ Images ] high court has ruled that the marriage of a girl above 15 years of age is not illegal provided it is of her own free will. Marriage of minors -- below 18 for girls, and below 21 for boys -- is not allowed by the law.

As an aside, the legal age to vote in India [ Images ] is 18 and in some states, the legal age for drinking is 25. 

In effect what the court orders means is that you could be old enough to wed and become a mother, but not old enough to vote, or drink in some states.
