Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has assured the Hurriyat moderate faction that Islamabad was open to 'any solution' acceptable to the people of J&K on the Kashmir issue, its chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq claimed on Friday.

"Musharraf assured me that any solution to the Kashmir issue that is acceptable to the Kashmiris would be acceptable to Pakistan as well," he said while addressing a Friday congregation here after returning from the United States.

He met Musharraf during the Organisation of Islamic Conference meet in New York on September 17.

The Mirwaiz said after the meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Pakistan President, Musharraf had "reiterated that the inclusion of the Kashmiri leadership in the dialogue process had become inevitable to find a durable solution" to the issue.

Musharraf also expressed satisfaction that the Hurriyat had intiated talks with the Centre for resolution of the issue, he said, adding that the separatist leaders had seriously joined the talks.

Just who is Mirwaiz Umer Farooq?

"The process is moving forward but there are some difficulties, which would be overcome in due course of time".

The Hurriyat leadership would take into confidence a cross-section of the society before making any "concrete proposal" on the issue, he said.
