Rameshwar Prasad Chaurasia, the Bharatiya Janata party candidate from Nokha in Sasaram, Bihar, who filed writ petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Constitutional validity of the dissolution of the Bihar assembly and imposition of the president's rule in the state, has welcomed the apex court's decision.

"We welcome the decision of the Supreme Court," a visibly delighted Rameshwar Prasad Chaurasia told rediff.com on Friday soon after the verdict.

He demanded that Bihar Governor Buta Singh be recalled immediately and stated that the government should ensure that "such persons" are not appointed as governors in any state.

"The verdict of the court is clear. Buta Singh, who should have acted as a custodian of the Constitution as governor of the state, in fact, acted as an agent of the congress party and the Rashtriya Janata Dal in Raj Bhavan," he charged.

According to Chaurasia, free and fair polls in the state cannot be held under the supervision of Buta Singh as the Supreme Court had passed strictures against him.

"They could not produce the fact because the truth was with us," he said.

He claimed that attack on Ravi Shankar Prasad Singh in Bihar on Thursday and the Supreme Court verdict against the central government on Friday would help the National Democratic Alliance secure three-fourth majority in the forthcoming assembly elections in Bihar.

Chaurasia also said that he was not disappointed with the apex court not ordering the restoration of the state assembly.
