Bangladesh police Tuesday interrogated 10 suspected militants belonging to the banned Jamaatul Mujaheedin Bangladesh outfit in connection with Monday's bombings in the courts, which left two persons dead and 40 injured.

A red alert has been sounded across Bangladesh as police hunted for clues to Monday's bombings.

Some of the suspects were carrying handwritten leaflets from the banned outfit, a police statement said.

The JMB has claimed responsibility by sending an e-mail to local newspapers, while police also pointed fingers at the militant group, local media reported.

Meanwhile, police Monday submitted the first chargesheet against 28 suspects in connection with the August 17 nationwide bombings in Bangladesh's Jaipurhat district.

There are 19 witnesses in the case, including five policemen.

On August 17, 63 of Bangladesh 64 districts were hit by serial bombings killing three people and injuring 150 others.

Authorities have arrested dozens of members of the banned JMB activists since then.
