The Gujarat government succeeded on Monday where the Maharashtra government failed in September-- win a relaxation of the Supreme Court's loud speaker ban on the occasion of popular festival.
The Supreme Court said the Gujarat government can relax the ban on use of loud speakers from 10 pm to 12 midnight for the playing of Garbah dance during Navaratri festival starting Tuesday.
The Supreme Court had banned the use of loud speakers after 10 pm.
The Maharashtra government had earlier appealed for a similar relaxation on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturti, but the Supreme Court refused to do so.
