Having conducted free and peaceful assembly elections in Bihar, state Chief Electoral Officer N K Sinha has been selected by Election Commission as a special observer for presidential poll in Kazakhstan, scheduled for December four.

Sinha would oversee the presidential poll process as an international observer, state Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Deepak Prasad told PTI.

The Kazakhstan government had requested the Election Commission to recommend the names of some distinguished officers for the purpose of appointing them as international observers to monitor the poll exercise there. Sinha and Deputy Chief Election Commissioner Ananth Kumar have been selected by the EC for the purpose, Prasad said.

When contacted, Sinha confirmed his visit to Kazakhstan for poll duty.

Some other observers from European Union countries would also arrive there as observers.

"I will use my Kazakhstan experiences in future," Sinha said.

Sinha earned accolades from Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon for ensuring fair and peaceful conduct of recent assembly poll in Bihar in coordination with its special observer K J Rao. The presidential election in Kazakhstan Republic is slated for December four and the poll process will be over by December seven.
