Monica Bedi's paternal uncle Purushottam Lal Bedi met her for 10 minutes at the women's prison at Chanchalguda in the city on Thursday.

Earlier, the special judge of Central Bureau of Investigation court had granted him permission for a brief meeting with Monica Bedi.

Purushottam Lal Bedi, the younger brother of Monica's father Prem Kumar Bedi, had arrived in the city a couple of days ago to meet his niece. He moved an application seeking the court's permission to meet her in the prison where the starlet is lodged after her extradition from Portugal alongwith underworld don Abu Salem.

The court directed Purushottam Lal to identify himself. His photographs and documents proving his identity were shown to Monica Bedi. He was allowed to meet her Thursday.

Speaking to media persons after meeting his niece, Purushottam Lal said that Monica Bedi had told him that she was single and did not marry Abu Salem.

Purushottam Lal had come from Chabewal village in Hoshiarpur district in Punjab. He claimed that he had to mortgage his property to undertake the visit to Hyderabad. He wished to take her back to his village.
