Janata Dal-United leader Sharad Yadav has claimed that the Bihar election results could alter the course of the central government.

"The results could pose a division within the United Progressive Alliance government and consequently lead to its fall. Or it will cause long-neglected issues concerning the poor, downtrodden and the farmer community to come to the fore," Yadav told rediff.com at his residence on Tughlaq Road.

The JD-U stalwart ridiculed psephologists who had predicted a hung assembly. "They have become zerologists and their predictions have gone totally haywire. Our own psephology has proved us right, that we will get anything between 135 and 150 seats," Yadav said.

Yadav had been monitoring the Bihar developments on telephone as well as on television and each result brought a smile to his face.

He also spoke to Nitish Kumar on phone, asking him if he had time for lunch together. On getting a positive response, Yadav later drove down to Nitish's home.
