Extradited gangster and 1993 Mumbai serial-bomb blast accused, Abu Salem, has not contradicted the conspiracy theory (of the prosecution) and at least at the moment there was no question of him turning an approver, the CBI said on Friday.

When asked if at any point of the interrogation, did Salem contradict the conspiracy theory of the prosecution or tell something which was different than what has come up so far, the CBI sources answered in the negative.

 No lawyers during interrogation: CBI

Against the backdrop of Salem's lawyers' reported statement that the gangster could consider turning an approver if the CBI gave a 'good deal,' the sources once again maintained that they would not make any deal.

"We have strong evidence against him and there is no question of he being asked to turn approver," they said.

However, CBI sources said they might consider the request only if something 'startling' comes out which Salem would like to tell about the bomb-blast case.

 'Enough proof to prosecute Salem'

Meanwhile, CBI authorities on Friday asked doctors of Sir J J Hospital to examine Salem at the office of the CBI Special Task Force, instead of his being taken to hospital.

CBI sources said this was done to avoid any ugly scene at the hospital or inconvenience to patients that may be caused because of "storming of media persons."
