Rajasthan is an important place for me and I love it for two things - its beautiful desert and Pokharan, President A P J Abdul Kalam said on Thursday.
"I love the full moon night in the sandy desert and wish to spend time there alone and I love Pokharan because it is a
theatre of action and liberty," he said during an interactive session with about 600 school children in Jaipur.
"Rajasthan is lucky to have two ladies at the highest posts in the government - Governor Pratibha Patil and Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje," he said.
On a girl student's question regarding scarcity of water, Kalam said it was not the problem of a particular state but of the whole world.
"Since the Indira Gandhi Canal project came into existence in the state, the problem was solved to some extent in some areas," he said, adding that inter-linking of rivers would be the answer to shortage of water.
He hoped Rajasthan would be listed among the developed states as it had made strides in many fields, including higher and technical education.
Highlighting the contribution of two great scientists - Albert Einstein and Sriniwas Ramanujam, the President said if politics wanted to use science to make bomb, it would have to be done keeping the national interest in mind.
