The CBI on Tuesday said it was aware of the links of extradited gangster Abu Salem with people in India but it was focussing on the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.
"We will call people as and when we deem it appropriate. At the moment we are probing Salem's role in the serial bomb blasts and we will concentrate only on aspects related to this case," CBI sources said on Tuesday.
They said the agency had details of the gangster's links but did not confirm or deny if some of the Bollywood personalities, mentioned in some media reports, would be summoned for questioning when Salem was in CBI custody.
They also declined comment on two Bollywood producers, who had allegedly stood surety for Salem in one of his cases in Dubai and had reportedly fled India fearing action after Salem was extradited.
Meanwhile, CBI sources said Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi acted as interpreter for extradited gangster Abu Salem when the couple was on the run from one country to another before they were arrested in Portugal in 2002.
"Although Salem learnt Portuguese during his stay there and can communicate fairly well in the language, he is some how not much conversant in English," a CBI source said.
