Underworld don Abu Salem's starlet girlfriend, Monica Bedi, was brought to Hyderabad from Mumbai on Friday night.

The flight landed at 2130 hours and Bedi was whisked away from the aircraft through the cargo terminal gate to the Central Bureau of Investigations office at Kothi.

She will be housed there and is likely to be presented before the judge of a special court on Saturday morning. Bedi is being tried in a criminal case for obtaining a passport from Regional Passport Office in Hyderabad in 2001 under a fictitious name and a false residential address in Kurnool town.

Media persons, who were waiting at the airport since Friday evening, were prevented from seeing Bedi by a large contingent of police personnel.

Meanwhile, commotion was witnessed outside the airport terminal as Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists, who had gathered to receive VHP president Ashok Singhal, shouted slogans denouncing Salem and Bedi.

Speaking to newsmen, Singhal demanded that Salem and Bedi should be awarded death penalty as they had conspired against the country. He lambasted the central government for giving a commitment to Portugal against death penalty for Salem.
