United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan has condemned the terrorist bombing of three hotels in Jordan in which at least 67 people were killed and urged for an early adoption of a comprehensive international treaty to fight terror.
Pointing out that the people of the Middle East region have particularly suffered from this scourge, Annan underscored the need for collective action against terrorism.
The treaty, which India strongly supports, is held up mainly on the definition of terrorism as some nations want to exempt, what they call, liberation struggles.
Meanwhile, Annan, who is traveling in the Middle East to win support for the peace process, has postponed his visit to Jordan scheduled to start Thursday in view of the bombings.
