India's permanent representative to the United Nations, Nirupam Sen has been asked to meet UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Paul Volcker, who headed the UN probe into alleged payoffs in Iraqi oil deals, to find out the truth, External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh said on Saturday.

"As foreign minister, I have spoken to our PR to UN half a dozen times (since the Volcker Committee report was made public). I have asked him to get an appointment with the Secretary General and Paul Volcker and find out the truth and let us know," he said in an interview to NDTV.

Singh said, "If there is anything wrong that we have done, we would like to correct it. If we have not, then we should convey our displeasure".

The minister said the foreign minister of Russia, former interior minister of France, the mayor of Milan and the South African government, have dismissed the Volcker report.

"I am dismissing it on behalf of the Congress party and as the foreign minister of India. We consider this outrageous".
