The crossing point between India and Pakistan on the Line of Control at Poonch in Jammu will be opened on Monday for facilitating the movement of people and earthquake relief material in pursuance of the agreement reached at between the two countries in Islamabad on October 29.
A statement issued by the External Affairs Ministry said in New Delhi on Saturday that the crossing point at Chakan da Bagh (Poonch) will be made operational on November 7, at Kaman (Uri) on November 9 and at Tithwal (Tangdhar) on November 10.
Relief material for earthquake victims will be sent through these crossing points and people can start using these points to cross the LoC as soon as their names are approved by both sides.
As agreed, due to the non-availability of or damage to infrastructure at the above crossing points, crossing would be permitted on foot, the statement added.
It said that all Indians desirous of using the crossing points may collect application forms from and apply to Regional Passport Office, Srinagar, the FRRO or his representative in district headquarters or Director, Ministry of External Affairs, Pakistan.
While India had offered to open the three points on the LoC, Pakistan had almost simultaneously offered to open five points.
Consequently, an Indian delegation travelled to Pakistan and held discussions on October 28 and 29 with Pakistani officials on making operational the relief process through the points.
