The Bharatiya Janata Party revamped its Bihar unit on Monday, by putting senior leader Sushil Kumar Modi at the helm of affairs, in preparation for the assembly election.
Party President L K Advani appointed Modi after Gopal Narain Singh submitted his resignation, BJP national vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told PTI.
Modi, who represents Patna in the Lok Sabha, will take charge with immediate effect, he said.
Singh's services will be utilised elsewhere, Naqvi said.
Advani also appointed former Union minister C P Thakur as Bihar Election Campaign Committee chairman, he said.
The reorganisation has been undertaken to enable the party to face the election in the state more effectively, Naqvi said.
