The Centre has provided Bihar Governor Buta Singh with the elite National Security Guards for security following intelligence reports about threats to him after dissolution of the state assembly.

Large number of security forces, including paramilitary forces, has been deployed in and around Raj Bhawan since Buta Singh recommended the dissolution of the state assembly.

This is the first time that a VVIP in Bihar has got NSG cover.

"Buta Singh's security will be in the hands of NSG commandos from New Delhi. The Centre has sent 38 well-trained NSG commandos," sources said.

A senior official of the state home department told rediff.com on Thursday that even intelligence agencies, in their report to the Centre, had asked to step up security to Buta Singh due to state-wide protests by the National Democratic Alliance.

Interestingly, the state government has decided to accommodate the commandos in the palatial bungalow at 10, Janpath, which was last week vacated by the powerful Rashtriya Janata Dal member of Parliament Sadhu Yadav, former chief minister Rabri Devi's brother.
