The Bihar government on Sunday sought permission of the Union home ministry to use 24 companies of Central Para-Military Force deployed for anti-naxalite operations, for law and order duty.
"We have requested the Centre to allow us to use 24 companies of CPMF which we already have for anti-naxalite operations, also for maintaining law and order and tackling any political clashes," Chief Secreatray K A H Subramanian told PTI.
He said four companies of Rapid Action Force have also been rushed from Jharkhand to meet any eventuality.
Besides, Subramanian said he had requested the Union home ministrty to make available as many more companies of CPMF as it can "easily."
Asked whether he apprehended any violence, the chief secretary said, "We are doing all this as a precautionary measure. Since parties are levelling allegations about kidnapping of MLAs of a particular party, nobody can say everything will remain peaceful."
Meanwhile, all roads leading to the Raj Bhavan which were briefly sealed with traffice police pickets erected at all intersections, have been opened for general public.
"There was some confusion as a result of which the roads were closed. They have now been opened for all," state's
police chief A R Sinha told PTI.
Sources in the Raj Bhavan said Governor Buta Singh was expected to return from New Delhi on Monday.
