Angry over continuous load-shedding, Shiv Sena activists on Tuesday set on fire the sub-divisional office of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board in Amravati district, about 150 kms from Nagpur, police said.

More than 30 Shiv Sainiks, led by former taluka chief Hemant Hatwar stormed the MSEB sub-divisional office with torches in their hands, police said.

They damaged tables and set the office ablaze, destroying the records at Dhole Complex, the police said.

The police added that two persons have been arrested in this connection.

The Shiv Sena had threatened to take out a torch rally to protest against the load shedding in the region on May 18.

Meanwhile, opposition leader and former chief minister Narayan Rane, who is on a tour of the region, called the incident "a spontaneous reaction of people against the load shedding".

Last month, Sena activists had gone on a rampage, attacking MSEB offices at a number of places across the state protesting frequent power cuts.
