At least 37 people, including two women, were killed and more than 25 injured when an overcrowded bus carrying a marriage party fell into a ditch at Nagarasu area in Rudraprayag district of Uttaranchal on Tuesday.

The bus was going to Maithani in Chamoli district from Srinagar [ Images ] (Garhwal) when it skidded off the road rolling down into a 150-meter ditch, Superintendent of Police Pushkar Singh Sailal said.

Twenty-eight people, including two women, died on the spot, while nine succumbed to their injuries in hospital, he said.
