An Indian national sustained a bullet injury and his companion escaped unhurt when the Royal Army of Nepal allegedly fired on them in Kankarvita in eastern Nepal, officials said on Monday.

The incident occurred on Sunday when the two Indian traders, Partha Sarkar and Raju Muhammad, carrying food grains and sugar to Kankarvita were stopped by the Royal Army, the officials said.

Out of panic, the traders started running, following which the army allegedly fired at them.

While Sarkar sustained a bullet injury on his leg, Muhammad managed to flee.

Sarkar was admitted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri, the officials added.
