Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M Karunanidhi on Monday said the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's victory in the by-elections to the Tamil Nadu assembly from Kancheepuram and Gummidipoondi was due to 'misuse of official machinery and display of muscle and money power'.
In a statement in Chennai, he said it was a fact that the AIADMK violated election rules, deceived the Election Commission and had spent few crores of rupees to provide facilities like roads in the constituencies they won from.
The party had also given money, Rs 100 to 500, to voters, he added.
Karunanidhi also thanked the DMK volunteers and other parties for their work in these constituencies.
