With increasing incidents of militants targeting newly elected municipal councillors, Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to provide insurance cover to them.
"The government will explore possibilities to provide insurance cover to the councillors," Minister for Housing and Urban Development Ghulam Hassan Mir said on Saturday.
He said the state government was aware of the problems confronting the councillors and will consider these with sympathetic view under the available resources.
The minister, however, claimed financial constraints will not hamper the development process of the municipal corporation.
