Former Pakistan prime minister and ruling Pakistan Muslim League leader Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain arrived in New Delhi on Monday.

He is on a five-day visit that is believed to be linked to Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's visit to India on April 16.

Hussain, through "Track-II" diplomacy, is expected to do the groundwork for Musharraf's visit.

Musharraf will be in Delhi to watch the final one-day international of the India-Pakistan series and is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

India had earlier hinted that the talks would be unofficial.

Hussain, who is likely to meet United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other top leaders, said his visit is part of the confidence building measures currently underway between the two countries.

Hussain was Pakistan's prime minister before Shaukat Aziz took over from him.
