Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's personal assistant Ravindra Mhatre was on Sunday arrested in connection with the death of two persons after his car hit them at Vile Parle, a Mumbai suburb.
Mhatre was later released by a local court on bail on a surety of Rs 20,000, Vile Parle police said.
Mhatre was driving the car when he allegedly lost control over the vehicle, resulting in the accident near the domestic airport at around 1600 IST on Saturday.
Two women were crushed to death, while two others were injured.
Mhatre was injured, too, and was treated in a local hospital, the police added.
