J&K to help youths get foreign jobs

The Jammu and Kashmir government has unveiled plans to set up an overseas employment corporation to help Kashmiri youths get jobs in foreign countries.

The government has made it mandatory for unemployed educated youth to register with the employment exchange to create a database.

"There is a good market for educated youth in the foreign countries as is evident by the fact that Malaysia has requisitioned one lakh skilled persons from India, Minister for Labour Nawang Rigzin Jora told the assembly on Wednesday.

"There is also a great need for skilled youths in reconstruction process in Afghanistan and Iraq. The overseas employment corporation will focus on this aspect," he said.

The state government has sought Rs 1,000 crore annual assistance from the Centre for as budgetary support for making new recruitments in the government services, he said.

"Efforts are being made to provide 30,000 job opportunities under new industrial policy are likely to be created with next two years," Jora said.
