Newly elected councillor killed in J&K

Militants shot dead a newly elected independent councillor to Baramulla municipal council, Fayaz Ahmad Mahjoo, outside his residence in old Baramulla town on Thursday morning, an official spokesman said.

Meanwhile, one of those injured in a grenade blast at Rajouri on Wednesday, Parvesh Kumar succumbed to injuries at a Jammu hospital, the spokesman said.

Security forces busted a hideout at Drubehal village in Dooru area of Anantnag district last evening and recovered two Kalashnikov magazines, 55 rounds, four detonators and three audio cassettes of militants' speeches, the spokesman said.

A four-kg improvised explosive devise and three kg of RDX were seized from a hideout at Kudwan Basantgarh in Udhampur district.
