President George W Bush has invited Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to visit the US.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice extended the invitation when she met the prime minister on Wednesday in New Delhi.
Rice, on her part, invited External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh to visit the US.
Rice, who had a 25-minute one-to-one meeting with the prime minister, said Bush decided she should visit India early in her tenure to convey his government's strong commitment to Indo-US relations.
Explaining India's growing energy needs, the prime minister said an energy dialogue was needed between the two countries.
He said the dialogue should discuss various traditional and non-traditional sources of energy.
Sarna said nuclear energy was also one of the sources India was looking at for meeting its energy needs.
