Leading Tamil actors Vijayakant and Kamal Hassan on Tuesday lashed out at Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S Ramadoss for launching a movement against English titles for Tamil films.

"Those running a caste-based political party here [in Tamil Nadu] and claiming that they are the champions of the Tamil language, cling to power by aligning with North Indian parties," Vijayakant said taking a dig at Ramadoss.

"For them, the milestones written in Hindi from Tindivanam (Ramadoss's hometown) to Chennai are not visible," he said inaugurating a medical camp organised by his fans at suburban Kunrathur.

Kamal Hassan said he would not change the title of his yet-to-be-released film 'Mumbai Express'.

"I will not yield to any pressure," he told a seminar on media laws, organised by the British Council in Chennai.

The PMK and the Dalit Panthers of India had announced an agitation against English titles being given for Tamil films.
