Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi on Wednesday returned to the Kanchi mutt after a gap of eight months.
The two seers, arrested in connection with the Sankararaman murder case, were later released on bail and were camping at nearby Kalavai.
The devotees accorded the Seers a traditional welcome on their arrival. They later performed a religious ceremony and were presented two elephants and two umbrellas. Jayendra also offered 'arthi' to the idol of Adi Sankara, Mutt sources said.
The Sankaracharyas chose this day for returning to the mutt as it was auspicious, they said.
