Coming down heavily on Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Praveen Tagodia for his comments against former deputy prime minister Lal Kishenchand Advani, the Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday said the former would have to regret his comments in the near future.
Togadia's comments were unnecessary, C P Radhakrishnan, BJP's Tamil Nadu unit president, told reporters in Chennai. He said Advani had gone to Pakistan to further the relationship between India and that country, where he had remarked that Mohammed Ali Jinnah was a secular leader.

Advani, known for his calculative manner in choosing his words, might have made these remarks as he was in the land of Jinnah, he said, adding that all foreign leaders arriving in India always praised Mahatma Gandhi.
Advani's comments should have been taken in that sense, Radhakrishnan said. He also said that Advani should reconsider his decision to resign from the party president's post.
