A fire that broke out in the evergreen forests of Uttaranchal last week continues to spread, destroying rare species of flora and fauna in the region, official sources said on Tuesday.
The fire has spread to forest areas in Ghat, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, Debal, Tharali and Gairsain and is spreading to other forest areas, they said.
Forest officials at Badrinath said they were making efforts to bring the blaze under control.
