At least two persons were killed and 28 injured, including five women, when the Chittorgarh-Mhow Express train derailed near Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh on Monday, officials said.

The mishap took place when the engine and five bogies of the metre-gauge (489 down) train derailed a kilometre from the railway station, a railway spokesman said.

The deceased were identified as Ramlal Meena and Ramesh Giri of Allahabad, he said.

Twenty two of the injured were admitted to the civil hospital, while six were admitted to the railway hospital, the spokesman said.
