London-based IBM executive Rajiv Bhattacharya, reported missing from the city on Wednesday, was traced to Mughalsarai railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
He was to get married in Kolkata on Friday. His wedding has been cancelled.
West Bengal home secretary A K Deb said railway police personnel spotted Bhattacharya roaming at the station and took him into custody.
A team of Kolkata police is rushing to Mughalsarai to bring him back. "Prima facie it appears that the man left his residence in Kolkata on his own. Maybe there are some complications in his marriage plans. We are investigating the matter," he said.
Deputy commissioner, eastern suburban division of Kolkata police, Javed Shamim, who is supervising the case, said, "There are so many theories floating about on the disappearance. Saying anything at this stage would be jumping the gun. At present, he has been found safe and is is being brought back to the city. He will be here tomorrow (Saturday). Let him come here and everything will be cleared," he said.
