After Tuesday's devastating downpour, Mumbai remains a city on the edge where a rumour last night resulted in a fatal stampede that claimed 18 lives.

On Thursday night, the suburban locality of Nehru Nagar and Subhash Nagar in north-west Mumbai were raging with rumours of a reservoir burst and a tsunami scare.

Panickstricken people in the area ran out of their houses with their families and belonings which resulted in a stampede.
