Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met United States Vice President Richard Cheney and discussed, among other things, the terror menace plaguing both India and the US.

The prime minister is on a three-day visit to the US.

The challenge both countries are facing from the scourge of terrorism figured at the meeting on Monday between Singh and Cheney, Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran told reporters in Washington.

Singh also discussed with Cheney the opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries, he said.

The prime minister gave Cheney some idea of liberalisation taking place in Indian economy, Saran said, adding the meeting was fruitful.
