As the investigations into the recent terrorist attack in Ayodhya pointed to the banned Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Tayiba, Islamabad on Friday asked India to conduct 'proper investigations' to establish the true identity of the attackers.

Reacting to the reports of LeT's involvement in the attack, Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesman Jalil Abbas Jilani
said Islamabad had strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Ayodhya.

"It is a common knowledge that sometimes police authorities apportion blame on foreign elements in order to avoid responsibilities to apprehend the real culprits," a Foreign Office press release quoted Jilani as saying.
