Six terrorists managed to get close to the disputed site at Ayodhya and set off explosives laden in a jeep. All six terrorists were killed by the security forces guarding the site. Two Central Reserve Police Force jawans were injured in the attack.

Speaking to rediff.com from Gandhinagar, Minister of State for Home Amit Shah said: "The situation in Gujarat is under control. We are on high alert but the law and order situation is under the complete control of the administration."

"We have never lowered our guard. The situation in the state is peaceful," Shah added.
