A day after he surrendered in a court in connection with the Rs 17 crore flood-relief scam and was sent to jail, high profile Indian Administrative Service officer Gautam Goswami was on Friday remanded to five days' vigilance custody.
Goswami, who was on the run for nearly a month after an arrest warrant was issued against him, has now been suspended from service.
"Goswami was suspended after Governor Buta Singh gave his nod to the file concerning departmental action against him for his involvement in a criminal case," Personnel and Administrative Reforms Secretary Ravikant told PTI.
The governor gave his approval to suspend Goswami from service under the All India Services Discipline and Appeal Rules - Rule-3 (3). The suspension was notified late on Thursday night, he said.
