A woman's hands were chopped with an axe over a land dispute at Pooth village of Ambah tehsil, near Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, police said on Monday.

The accused -- Ranga, Bhagwandas and Jankidas -- of the same village also dealt a heavy blow on Munni Bai's back with the weapon when she was working in a field on Sunday, the police said.

The victim was taken to a district hospital.

Cases were registered against the three, who were yet to be arrested, the police added.
