Schools in Patna have intensified their protest against the kidnapping of Kislay Kaushal, a 14-year-old student of the Delhi Public School.
Most of the public schools remained closed on Monday and students in some places sat on relay fasts.
The Bihar Public School and Children's Welfare Association had given the call for closure. The Christian Missionaries Educational Society and the Association of Independent Schools supported it.
The BPS and CWA also threatened to boycott cultural programmes on Republic Day.
CWA president D K Singh warned that if Kislay was not released soon, students of several schools would gherao Raj Bhawan -- the governor's residence.
